The last and finel week before the presentation. both ammie and mr hind are absent. the presentation is only half done. lots of our documents are saved on mr hinds memory stick. some serios organisation is needed. So, to get everythng organised so we could be the most productive we could be i wrote a list of the things we needed to do, priorised them and set about to do them. this was very helpful because imade a caotic situation more bareable and made sure i was neer wasteing time
first we worked on our presentation. this was not as difficult as it could have been because
then i thought that we should plan the presentation so it would go smoothly with the client. it was my idea that we write a script of what evryone is going to say. i did that, makeing sure that everyone who wanted a big part got a big part and everyone that wanted a small part got a small part. however i dident want to leave enyone out. so i made sure that everyone got and equal amount of sentences but the people that only wanted small parts got the short sentences. i gave myself the biggist part because i wanted quite a big part and also i had made the presentation so i knew it well already. also, evan tho im sure aimee would want a larger part she is not hear and so it wouldent work that well.
arfter i had finished all of that and made sure everyone had copys, i planned what i would need to do. next week is the fiel day aswell as the presentation so there would be alot to do. to make sure i did everything i needed to i broke everything down in small and easy tasks and then prioritised them.

WEEK 7 =O)
first we had a group meeting. we decided that Today we will finish of our leaflet desighn once and for all because we thought we should get that done so we new we'd have it finished. We also thought we would start makeing the powerpoing presentation to present to our client. I thought this was good and it was nice to feet our prioritys sorted so that everyone new exactly what we were doing.
However when we looked at the designs Aimee thought we should try a different type of leaflet and go back to one of our earlier designs because she thought it would be more strikeing. I disagread for the same reason we dident chose that one in the first place. So to compramise I said that amimme could try to desighn what she thought would be good and il work on the presentation and then we could compare desighns at the end. This was effective because it diverted a possible argument and made sure we lisend to everyone and acturly did pic the write design
then i made the power point for the presentation we will be doing next week. this was good because it was quite satisfying to present our work and make it look professional and I enjoyed being proud of what we had done. However it was quite hard to do because we hadn't really finished yet. so, i made a sort of skeleton of a presentation and planned where everything would go, without the information which we will put in next week. This was good because acturly it was alot quiker than if I had put the info in then whitch ment I could see alot easyer where everything should go.
then I wrote the words that would go in our leaflet. i looked up some leaflets of similer cafes and tryed to write in a similer style. i thought this went really well. Because the finishing product really did sound like a cheesy cafe leaflet. It was also good that I had taken notes during the brife because these became very useful when writeing up the information
in the end we held a nesting to decide whitch design would look best. It was my idea to take it around the class and ask their opinion. In the end, takeing into account of our feedback and our own desigens we decided to stick to the original design.

WEEK 6 B)

Then we decided we would go out to the Orange tree cafe to take pictures of the outside. me and amiee shared the job of camera-woman and i think i took some great photos.
Then we had to take pictures of the food. i found this ifficult becaue the light was really bad, so I turned the food in different lights. they were also bad because we were the last to use them so the food looked a little manky, so i asked someone if we could have a new plate and washed the cutlery. so tht it looked neater.
Then we edited the pics. i edited one of the photographs on photoshop and i thought that was really good. i enjoyed working on photoshop because it was satisfying to see a bad picture come to life. i changes balence, brigtnes and contrast to make a moldy, unapitising looking saled into the bright, helthy fresh thing it had been that morning. sort of like '10 years younger' for vegetables.
i think i worked well this lesson and got a lot done. i have a very posotive feeling about this project and looking forward to seing the finished result.

WEEK 4 :O
today we are doing the actual leaflet!
first, we had to reserch the cafe and the surounding shops, good places to hand out leaflets, found reveiws, footfall in cambridge and sort of people who would be likely to come into the cafe.
Then we had to think of a good concept. we decided as a group that we should sepratly write up some ideas. i was trying to thing of the cafe and how to capture the mood so it was my idea to have wooden frames with the pictures in on the leaflet so it looked like they were on the wall. then we brought all our ideas together to supposedly create the perfect leaflet. yea wright. we tryed to combine all our ideas in one. this was a compleat and utter fail. the desighn was much to complicated and there ws hardly eny room for text.

so then we decided that the wooden frames was good but to still keep the oringinsh tinge to it and still keep it big and bold.
this was hard though because everyone thought there idea was the best however i thought we handeled it very well and looked at everyones ideas and not get caught up in wanting our own idea. i think we maniged to compromise well. if i could go back and do it again I would have got everyone together more early on and decided to do the whole thing togEther

WEEK 3 :P
today, we went to see orange tree cafe i decided to write down as much as possible because that way id be sure to get something useful seeing as i wasn't certain what i was looking for. i really liked the cafe and i think it will be quite easy to advertise. It was nice going to see the cafe we had been talking about for so long. I do think it needs more advertising though because I must have walked down that street 1000 times since it was there and I never noticed it before then we went back and learnt some of the history and facts behind it which i also wrote down because I thought they might be useful. then when we went back we had THE BRIEF (dan dan daaaaaaan!) :) i was really looking forward to this part because i wanted to know what we would have to do! turns out we have to make a leaflet advertising the cafe. i think this will be good because the Orange tree cafe has allot to advertise! I think it's quite lucky that I do like the cafe and that were advertising things we like because it would be much harder if I didn't like the Orange tree cafe because I would have to lie.

WEEK 2 :D
first we started working on research report and i think i did quite allot on it and found some good sites. i also took lots of screenshots of the websites i went to because i thought it would be good to put in my folder. i also got allot of photographs to put in so it wont just look like allot of text on a page.
after that we did some research food images. this was quite interesting and very inspiring and it was really good to look at some examples of the photography skills we have been learning.
next we had to take some abstract close ups of general things around the room. This was really good because it was getting up and moving around and coming up with our own ideas which was fun :)
Arfter we finished taking pictures of whatever we want we started to take food pictures in the same way - dramatic close up. Here are some of our pictures
to take the pictures we had to push button down half way to focus on the middle.
if the subject wasn't central you have to put it in the middle, let it focus then recompose it it.you would do the same thing if it was too close or too far away.
after taking loads of pics we had to organise them with enough space to write about them and then print them off. Of corce, inevitably the printer wouldn't work.
So then we had to write about all the pictures we took. This was sort of easy because we knew all the things we were looking for but sort of hard as well because we had SO MENY PHOTOGRAPHS!
All it all I learnt allot this lesson and my target for next lesson is to try and be more productive and just get things done.

WEEK 1 :)
Today, we started a new course which is CAMPAIGN. at first i thought it was going to be really boring because it seemed just allot of sitting in a classroom and learning rather than actually doing things and learning as we go along. i also thought that digital photos are allot less exciting than film because i take them every day. However it was actually not bad. at first my fears where confirmed when we had to sit still and listen because i don't like working that way but it was interesting and i manged not to get distracted. at that point i became very interested because i love looking at advertising and possibly want to go in to advertising when i get a job.so i decided that this project would be quite interesting after all and i think a Target for me would be to not jump to conclusions to quickly
next we started on our research report. we learnt about the different types of advertising - raising awareness, selling a service/product and point of view. then we had to make a table and fill in with different ways of advertising this. i found this quite easy and because it was easy - dull. however it was interesting to look up examples and add pictures and also to see how effective each way is.
next we had to sell certain items that Mr Hind gave us. These were cameras, lenses, books and a camera case.
We Had to get into groups and try to find a way to sell them getting the most money as possible. this meant researching the items to find there cost and planning a way to sell them. i thought we could just sell them all on eBay but that there must be a way to get more money than that so i came up with idea that we could hold an auction in a hall with £5 entry where other photographers could buy and sell there things to. we would advertise by putting posters up in photography shops and sending an email to everyone we know and asking them to pass it on. so with the cost of hiring the hall (holds 200) and the cost of posters and the cost of refreshments comes to about £100. we would only need 20 people to come to gain profit let alone buying everything. and so with the cost of with the prices of the items and the money from the entrance (if everyone came) would be £1200 (5x200 +£200 for items) minus the costs we would hypothetically get £1000. however the likelihood of everyone coming is slim. the drawbacks would be the amount of effort wed have to put in and the chance that nobody would come.
as a target i need to work better as a teem. I'm not very good at working it a team normally and with this i cind of did it all myself without talking to the team that much. on reflection i think i would have communicated more with my team.i would also have written down the calculations to make them clearer and expressed the flaws in the power point to show id thought about it. i would also try to be more confident in talking infrount of the class which is something I'm really not good at.
so all in all a very good start to the term :)
